Dapol’s N gauge models of the 7MT “Britannia” Class are, unquestionably, one of the best renderings of any British Railways era steam locomotive.
Dapol’s N scale models are beautiful, but large manufacturers have to compromise the fragility of ‘detailing’ versus the resilience to withstand a few knocks and bumps. For those modelling in the larger OO and O scales, there has always been a preponderance of aftermarket detailing parts suppliers, our design team has developed the first in a range of finescale upgrade sets. No other supplier has made a serious commitment to developing a series of upgrade parts for N scale steam locomotives.
Our design team are committed to the UK design and UK manufacture of a whole range of officially “Dapol Approved”, affordable and easy-to-fit, highly detailed upgrading parts that will transform your already excellent Dapol locomotive into a superb ‘collectors edition’ finescale model.
These beautifully portray the gleaming brass handholds of the ‘modified’ smoke deflectors which, for safety reasons, were retro-fitted to most of the Western Region fleet of Britannia 7MT locomotives -- namely, 70015 “APOLLO”, 70016 “ARIEL”, 70018 “FLYING DUTCHMAN”, 70019 “LIGHTNING”, 70022 “TORNADO”, 70023 “VENUS”, 70025 “WESTERN STAR”, 70026 “POLAR STAR”, and 70027 “RISING STAR” -- and, whether depicting the locomotive with its brass nameplate, or circa post-1965 form with nameplate removed, are certain to transform your model.
